SPS District Information

Sutton Public Schools is a Class III school that is accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education. The school is a member of the Southern Nebraska Conference that includes: Centennial, David City, Fillmore Central, Thayer Central, Heartland, Milford, Sandy Creek, Superior, Sutton, Tri-County, Wilber-Clatonia, and Wymore Southern.

 

The District is governed by a six-member Board of Education. Each member is selected for a four year term. Board members must be residents of School District #2 and each member serves the district with no compensation for their services. The Board of Education holds a regular meeting on the third Monday of each month. Board meetings are normally held in the board room, which is located in the Superintendent’s office. All board meetings are open to the public and are advertised according to state open meeting laws. Public notice of meetings is placed in the Clay County News. Current board members are:  Ty Yost-president, Neal Schlautman-vice president, Carol Waddell-secretary, and  members  Sara Nuss, Mark Bailey, and Mike Thompson.

2006-2007 Student Information


During the 2006-2007 school year the average daily membership for grades K-12 was 392.45 students. The average daily attendance was 379.6 students for an attendance rate of 96.7%.


Graduate Information


There were 28 graduates in 2007. This is a 100%  graduation rate for the class of 2007. Of the class of 2007, 16 are attending a 2 year post-secondary school; 11 a 4 year post-secondary school;  and 1 is working. Below is a history of what graduates did the year after high school:

This report presents information about the fourth, eighth, and eleventh grades’ performance on the Terra Nova Assessment. It describes achievement in terms of national Percentiles, which compare this group with other students of the same grade nationally.     Grade 4 –  85.71 % of the class were proficient or advanced.

    Grade 8 – 96.88% of the 8th grade were proficient or advanced.

    Grade 11 – 97.14% of the class were proficient or advanced.

 

Math - Students were assessed as to whether they are meeting the state standards in mathematics. Below you will find the percent of students that met the state standards in mathematics.

    Grade 4 - 98.21% of those students were proficient or advanced.
