Kindergarten 100th Day Celebration

By Ramer, Diana

January 26, 2012

Oh where, oh where to start? So many exciting things happened to celebrate the 100th day of school. To even get into the classroom, the students had to walk through a streamer banner stating that they were 100 days smarter. Located on the streamers were pictures of each child. Once they managed to get into the classroom, they saw balloons hanging from the ceiling. Throughout the day, a student would pop a balloon and inside that balloon was a message! The message told us what we had to complete; like hop 100 times, clap 100 times, take 100 steps, count to 100 and ect….By the end of the day, they were tired of the balloons!

To add to the excitement we had a new student! Goes by the name of Bo! Oh, and it was a spotless Dalmatian BUT the students were kind enough to help Bo out. One by one they took turns taping spots on him. Occasionally, some spots were eaten! Yes, you heard correctly, EATEN! Did I mention the spots were black licorice? Each time a student put a spot on Bo, they had to make a tally mark on the board. We would then count periodically by tens and fives until Bo had 100 spots! Bo is now a permanent member of our classroom.

And the fun did not stop there! Later, each child was given water paints to paint 100 fingerprints! Headbands were made and students wore those in the parade (K,1st, and 2nd graders walk the elementary and high school hallways).  GORP ( a general term for trail mix) was even made for the snack of the day. A day enjoyed by all!
