Six FCCLA Members Qualify for State STAR Events

Wednesday, January 25th, eight Sutton FCCLA members traveled to Davenport to compete in the District 4 FCCLA STAR Events.  STAR stands for (Students Taking Action with Recognition). The STAR program encourages active participation and emphasizes the positive accomplishments of FCCLA members. The objective of this program is to assist students in developing leadership, citizenship, and occupational knowledge and skills for personal, family and community living through family and consumer sciences education. The program is designed to be a learning experience for members and as such may be undertaken as an independent project or may be integrated into classroom instruction. Receiving bronze medals from Sutton were Alison Cloet in Illustrated Talk and Jessica Farley in Entrepreneurship.  Receiving TOP SILVERS and advancing to State were Morgan Lomax & Natalie Solway in Chapter Showcase Manual, McKenna Griess & Nicole Keenan in Family Challenges & Issues, Brittney Reinsch and Hailee Hanthorn in Chapter Service Display.  The FCCLA State Conference will be held in Lincoln on April 1, 2, & 3.  Their advisor is Nancy Schlautman.
