Phonograms
In Kindergarten we teach Spaulding Phonics. We learn 26 single letter phonograms and 34 two and three letter phonograms. We are learning spelling words and using them in sentences. The words we are learning to spell are high frequency words as well as common used words in writing. Each day we review our phonograms. We take a phonogram quiz. The students are introduced two new words and the appropriate markings and given a spelling test. Phonograms class ends with a dictated sentence. The students are learning correct spacing, capitalization and punctuation.
