Writing

Marvelous, frolicking, numerous, and dashing. These are just a few of the words you might see in the fourth graders' writing. Fourth graders use the 6 Traits to review the qualities that make good writing great. The six traits that students use to focus their writing are ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency and conventions. Students have been successful in all six areas. Early in the second semester fourth graders take part in the state-wide writing assessment. All fourth graders in the state write on the same topic, and are scored based on the Six Trait model.
In addition to conquering the Six Traits, students work equally hard on their Reasoning and Writing. Reasoning and Writing is the more "grammar focused" part of the writing curriculum.
