This spring the elementary student council began working on the garden area in front of the elementary entrance way. The project began with removal of the old dirt and rock and replacement with new dirt and some Miracle-gro soil. This part of the project was completed by Rich Reichert. After the fresh soil was added it was time to start planting. Flowers were both donated by community members and purchased locally when possible. Next, came adding of the edging blocks between the garden and the grass. The final phase is yet to be completed. We will be adding mulch to the garden to help with moisture retention and weed control. The garden will be an ongoing project as some of the flowers are perennials and some are annuals. Our council has spent many hours planning and working on this project. These students should be commended for all of their time and labor.
