Golf Team Makes History
Qualify for state meet
May 19, 2009
The Sutton Golf team was able to block out the conditions Monday, and become the first team to ever qualify for the state golf meet in school history. The Mustangs came out and were tied for the lead three ways after the first nine holes with HTRS and Lincoln Lutheran, with Fillmore Central 5-shots behind. They were then able to improve on the back nine by one shot to finish with a 349, third behind those two, and 14 shots ahead of host Columbus Scotus.
Individually, Lance Griess finished 6th and Reid Wiebe and Lance Spongberg were tied for 10th.
Teams who finish in the top 3 and the top 10 individuals qualify for the state meet from each district which will be held at Meadowlark Hills in Kearney this year May 27th and 28th.
